Mandatory Volunteering is truly oxymoronic
Not like the others volunteering services, mandatory volunteering is a bad idea, peoples in the society feel that mandatory volunteering are force the student to volunteer, the student also do not have time to volunteer and may lose the creativity.
The Students do not have time to volunteering. In my view, students not need have mandatory volunteering; they cannot spend their time for that activity that wills break their concentration to study. According to www.michiganvotes.org1 that schools should not require hours outside of the school day. The students have difficult enough things to do like learn about math, sciences, language, etc. Therefore, mandatory volunteering must build into the curriculum. I believe that if it must do in outside of the school day that makes students saps time and energy away from the primary education mission.
Many students do volunteer work with full force from their school. In my opinion that we cannot force kids to care, but we need to teach them to care. According to The Sun Sentinel2 that volunteering is a personal choice. So, when school force student to be a volunteer, it is like lick on self. They not give a good example to follow. According to Estiningsih3 that anything that example by the parent or the elder can influence the child mentality. In my view, mandatory volunteering is the kind of thing that forces students. It means that school gives a bad examples to the students with forces them to volunteering. Off course, that school wants the student to understand the importance of charity but mandatory volunteering is not a good example. Therefore, school must thing another way to encourage students to volunteer but not with mandatory volunteering.
Mandatory volunteering may lose the student creativity. I believe that students have different talent, students must develop their talent with some activity that connecting with the talent. According to Jennifer Wong4 that volunteering isn’t just what you can do for other people; it’s also what you can do for yourself. When a volunteer activity is doing with self-consciousness, its will give the better result and students feel happy to do that because the activity related to their talent. So, do not break down the student’s talent.
In conclusion, mandatory volunteering is a bad idea. The students have their own right and school must respect their choice.
